This was written back on 6/28...
Parker has grown up so much in the past few weeks! He is now attempting to repeat alot of what we say, and he really seems to have some sort of understanding of the world around him! He amazes us every day with the little things that he does.
He also picks up on EVERYTHING we do! Yesterday, we received a package in the mail (we are subscribed to Amazon Mom so once a month we receive a big box of diapers). I guess Parker has watched Jerod use his keys to open these boxes in months past. We got a box yesterday, and Parker immediately started pointing to Jerod's pocket and saying "Pease" (aka "please"). Jerod pulled out his keys and Parker grabbed them, went over to the box and proceeded to attempt to cut the tape down the seam with one of the keys! I was amazed! It had been a month since we even got a box in the mail!
He is also learning LOTS of objects. He just got a new alphabet book (Nana gave it to him a week ago), and so far he can identify about half of the objects in the book.
He also will sometimes surprise us by pointing to an object that we did not know he knew and calling it by name!
He also knows the sounds to the following animals: cow, dog, pig, duck (sometimes) and we are working on cat. Not to mention he imitates the sound of airplanes (and points to the sky when he hears one).
He can now identify all of his facial features (nose, eyes, mouth, teeth, etc.), ears, belly button, toes, hair and knee.
We are working on learning how to put up two fingers right now. He still holds up his little pointer when we say "one" but now when we say "two" he looks at his hand and tries to use his other hand to figure out how to hold up two fingers. Pretty darn cute!
We also swear he understands what we are saying! You can tell him to go find something, or ask where something is, and he will point to it, go get it, or throw his hands up in the air like he doesn't know. He has also learned how to shake his head yes and no (he has been shaking his head for a long time now, but he now knows what the mean). If you ask him if he wants to change his diaper, he ALWAYS shakes his head no! Ha! We can also bribe him a little :) Yesterday Jerod was trying to get Parker to give me a kiss... but Parker was only interested in being picked up by Jerod. Jerod finally told Parker to go give mommy a kiss and then he will pick him up. Sure enough, the little guy trotted over to me and gave me a kiss before running back to dad with hands in the air!
He has ALOT of words now, but the ones he uses most often are please, bite (when he wants a bite of something), bath, duck (still calls anything that flies a duck), mmmm (when something looks, sounds or tastes delicious) book (probably his favorite toy), ball (wait, this one might be his favorite toy), apple, cheese (one of his favorite foods), up (when he wants to be picked up or put down), hot (for anything that is hot or cold), puff (a snack we sometimes give him), dog, this and/or that (when pointing to what he wants), and uh-oh (when something that he deems "wrong" happens).
He also has a surprise look where he puckers his lips in an "o" shape and gasps or says "ooooh". He does this when he gets excited... like when I ask him if he wants some milk!
His newest trick is that he tries to tick everyone! It is one of the funniest things that he does... but we CANNOT manage to catch it on video! He makes the funniest sound when he says, "tickle tickle tickle" in his highest pitched voice!
He also loves to give kisses (usually). The other day we were listening to the radio and the
"I kissed a girl and I liked it" song came one. Every time it said the word kiss, Parker would stop and kiss the air!
He has a whole new level of energy these past few days! He literally bounces off the walls! He climbs anything and everything and has absolutely no fear. He now opens lever doors way too easily and gets into EVERYTHING! We are working on listening when told "no." He sometimes listens, and sometimes ignores us.
Sorry for the long update! Another one is coming soon... but this time for new baby! :)
